Our ABRS privacy policy seeks to:

  • explain our personal information handling practices
  • make our operations more transparent
  • give you a better and more complete understanding of the personal information we hold and how we deal with that information.

About us

On 28 August 2023, The Hon Stephen Jones MP, Assistant Treasurer and Minister for Financial Services, announced the cessation of the MBR program following an independent review completed in July.

The director identification number (director ID) initiative is still administered by the ABRS.

Who needs a director ID

You need a director ID if you’re an eligible officer of:

  • a company, registered Australian body, or registered foreign company under the Corporations Act 2001 (Corporations Act)
  • an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporation registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (CATSI Act).
