System maintenance

Essential maintenance will sometimes impact service availability. We’ll provide information and expected timeframes when this happens.

Unplanned outages

There may be times when we experience service interruptions or need to undertake unscheduled maintenance.

You can also check the ABRS online dashboard for availability and performance of ABRS online. The dashboard uses real time data to tell you if ABRS online is functioning normally or experiencing issues.

We will publish details here as they are known.

There are currently no unplanned outages.

Planned maintenance

Maintenance activities may affect some (or all) of the services available on our website. Expected dates and times (AEDT) are listed below.

Full or limited functionality may be returned earlier if the system maintenance is proceeding ahead of schedule.

Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with ABRS online, it may be a problem with your browser or connection.

You can resolve common issues by:

  • checking your internet connection
  • refreshing your browser
  • installing the latest version of a supported browser
  • closing all open browsers and opening a new browser
  • selecting Log in.

If you continue to experience difficulties, phone us.

Known issues

As we continue to build this new digital service, you may experience issues.

Here are some known issues and what you can do to resolve them.

If you experience... You can...
‘Unexpected system error’ message with instructions to contact the ATO Technical Helpdesk or the ABRS
  1. Refresh the web page.
  2. Close the internet browser and try to access the service again (log in).
  3. Clear the temporary internet cache and cookies in your internet browser settings, close all open internet browser sessions, and re-access the service.
  4. Try another internet browser.
'Entry not valid' message

Check you are entering the required information.

  • PAYG payment summary – only use information from a PAYG payment summary issued in the last 2 years.
  • Superannuation account details – only use information from an APRA fund.
  • Dividend statement – only enter the investment reference number, include all numbers, and exclude any spaces.
  • Bank account details – only use a bank account
    • in which you have received an income tax refund, or
    • that has earned interest in the last 2 years.
Unexpected redirection to a previous screen after selecting cancel when providing identity information Close the browser to exit the service.
